We’ve all been learning to navigate this pandemic and we've all been closely monitoring the numbers.
This weekend I was listening to an episode of my favorite podcast Radiolab. They were talking about how we wake up every day and are bombarded with covid 19 numbers (the number of cases, the number of deaths, the hospitalization rate and the number of recoveries). It is center stage in our lives. And because of how serious this pandemic is, we have to stay focus and stay vigilant. Unfortunately it’s taking its toll emotionally.
But WHAT IF (this is what I love about Radiolab) every day we were bombarded with other numbers as well and as they said “It doesn’t have to be bad things.” Here are a few they listed:
How many trees bloomed on the first day of spring – roughly 1.5 billion
How many jars of peanut butter are sold every day- an estimated 246,575 per day of a single brand
The number of babies born - 300,060 per day (“that’s roughly 1.2 babies per jars of peanut butter”)
Uber rider per day – 18 million worldwide
Gallons of wine drunk a day - Roughly 172,800,000
How many rocks were skipped on a lake – A ballpark guess 102,061
How many bonfires were made – Maybe 32,017
HERE IS YOUR CHALLENGE: What is your Covid 19 Number? Take Radiolab’s suggestion and every couple of days, find a number that breaths hope and life and fun back into your social distancing existence and share them with me and with everyone!
