When I think of vow renewals I think of the couples who have approached me. So if you wondering when you should do a vow renewal, think of these couples:
The Annual Couple- They do one every year. The vow renewal is usually a part of an anniversary party in their home.
The Decade Couple- 10yr, 20yr, 30yr etc. More thought and effort is put into these vow renewals. These are usually more formal and may be at a venue rather than in someone’s home.
The Every 5 years couple (5, 10, 15, 20 etc) - These couples tend to lean in the direction of an anniversary party with a vow renewal twist.
The “What’s in the past is in the past” Recommitment Couple - This is the couple who have a past of drifting away or an indiscretion and have found their way back to love and are recommitting themselves to marriage.
The “We’re surprising and/or bullying our parents into it” Family- This one gets a little tricky because the couple isn’t always a willing participant. (lol)
The Secret couple- This is the couple who have secretly eloped and are now planning a full "wedding” for their family and friends. In this case, they either, haven’t told anyone the ceremony is really a vow renewal, or they have only confided in one maybe two people.
What I love about vow renewals is that - All of these couples are committing to stay committed to the commitment they made when they got married. Isn't that wonderful!
